Itinerary description
Cádiz is an amazing city.
There is only one problem with Cadiz and that is parking.
On the southside they are removing 8Km of parking and making a cycle lane.
Your best bet is to use one of the many underground car parks, or use a hotel car park.
We stayed in the Hotel Puertatierra, (1Km from the historical centre) and to be honest
we could not fault the hotel. The staff were very friendly. Cannot comment on the food as we ate out each day.
Cadiz is not like Granada for tapas. The best eating experience we found was at Freiduria las Flores in Plaza Topete, also called plaza de las Flores.
It serves all kinds of fried seafood. You have to take a ticket to be served. On the left side is for the restaurant and on the right it's for takeaway.
Get there early around 1pm as it is a very popular place.
The main market is also a good place to eat.
If you go to the Main tourist office opposite the port on paseo de Canalejas you can get a map with 4 walking routes coloured in. The Blue, red and purple routes are painted on the ground in many places, so just follow the coloured lines. This walk was a combination of the green route (Recinto Medieval y Puerta de Tierra) and route 3 (Cargadores a Indias)
Here is a run down of the sites we took in on day two. I ran out of waypoints. The next stop was the Cadiz museum (Free). I needed at least another 10 waypoints to finish the walk.
