Itinerary description
Admittedly, the first 1.5 km of this hike are not the most awe inspiring, you are following an out of service logging road. It is in the shade though and easy walking so a nice respite on a hot day.
The real treasure is the ridge itself, its topography and plant life. It rises 100+ meters from the valley floor with sharply dropping slopes off of two sides. There is also an amazing cleft running down the middle that looks like it was cut with a (large) carving knife.
At the time of this hike the arbutus trees were starting to shed their old red bark revealing the new pistachio coloured bark. In the spring, there are meadows of camas lilies and the ferns hang from the rock walls.
The Retreads Hiking Club gives this hike an AVA rating of 3C for the ridge section of the hike. The approach logging road is a 1A

I love this little trail meandering through a forest of Arbutus which in June is shedding it's outer bark. Not very hard to navigate at all, but a hiking pole is worthwhile to maintain your balance on some narrow and rocky surfaces to traverse. Entrance to the last trail is hard to see and thinned out so keep an eye peeled out for it.
