Itinerary description
We start with breakfast at the popular Venta El Punto in Carraraca, with its infamous/famous cholesterol corner.
We leave the venta and the village on a gentle decent passing under the busy A357 road to the start of our first gentle climb, this is followed by a short downhill section.
The track then becomes steeper as it zig-zags through lovely countryside. Watch for the relics of mining on a small scale obscured by the undergrowth. This steady climb has superb views and plenty of shady places to rest.
Our lunch spot is at an abandoned Cortijo with a fine view across to Carratraca and
the distant Arab Steps at El Chorro.
We climb slightly higher before we descend on the route back towards Carratraca. As we approach the A357 the crooked walls and rotting fences hide a forgotten industrial past of this area.
We have one last climb back to the venta which will take around 20 minutes
