Today is our day 10! That’s seems unbelievable but also it is still a long way ahead…
Today we walked 24.71 km from Santa Domingo de La Calzada to Belorado. We walked up quite late today. Although I woke up like always, didn’t wanted to wake up girls, so we left our albergue almost the last (from all pilgrims who were there). The distance to Belorado is smaller, but we were trying to find some place for breakfast.. and it was a big challenge! Because most of the cafe’s are open at 9 (that is quite late). Finally we stopped at the same place, as we had dinner the day before and had croissants and coffees.
In the night it was raining.. so it was a lot of mud on the way. After leaving city, we saw 2 buses stopped along the way. They were full with teenagers around 16 years old.. So I assume, it was more than 100 kids, who we found out were doing part of Camino.. From Logroño to Grañon. So this part of the way to Grañon we were walking almost all the time with them. That’s really nice thing for schools to do! To organize such kind of trips. We were joking, that probably it is how Camino looks in summer (amount of people)!
But honestly, this part of Camino I think is the least interesting and beautiful. Almost all the way was next to the main road. Fun part was that today a lot of trucks and cars were beeping and waving to us. That was fun!
Also most of the days we were passing through few villages, but today it was 5 villages that we were passing through.
My ankle feels much better today! But Anna’s knee started to pain (she had a surgery before)… So I was worried about her. Even asked few people to help her to take her to Belorado. Guy from the truck said, that it is forbidden to do it. And if police will stop him, he would have a problem. Other guys in the car first said: but you are pilgrims, you have to walk. And in any case, we are going in another direction.. But she did good! She walked till the end with us.
Tomorrow would be more difficult day! I planned to do only 24 km.. but the place i thought to stop, all Alburgues and hostels are closed! So we will need to walk more than 30 km!
