Day 13 of Camino de Santiago. We were walking today from Burgos (it was little but sad to leave such a beautiful city, that all of us liked so much) to Hornillos del Camino (23.05 km).
As in previous days, we were woken up at 7 am in our Albergue in Burgos. At 8 we had a breakfast just in front of Albergue and started our walk. Said goodbye to the Cathedral (that was really beautiful in the sunrise). Camino actually doesn’t go through very beautiful monastery, called The Monastery Huelgas (and it was too early when we were passing it, it opens at 10.30)… But it is so beautiful, so we decided to take a turn and look at it, even from outside. I think, it was worth to spend some time to see it.
The weather today was just amazing! So warm and nice. Morning was little bit chilly, but as sun appeared, was really warm (up to 17 degrees, but it felt like 30)!
Road wasn’t particularly beautiful in beginning (crossing several times under or above highways).. But when we were coming to Hornillos, was really nice. Sunflower fields (that were still there).. And just green fields. Very picturesque!
In tardajos we got in the mass in church.. and later we were stopped by nun near Ermita de la Virgen Monasterio and she gave us blessing and gave us medallions. Was very sweet!
In Hornillos we stopped again in albergue municipal. There is a German guy here, called Thomas, who is a volunteer working for a month. For 3 months he was driving through Germany, Perinees and he decided to take a break here. So after a nice dinner here (made by another volunteer) - vegetarian soup with lentils. We were talking a lot with Thomas, and other fellow pilgrims. It was really nice time laughing and telling our experiences.
