Itinerary description

We leave the accommodation following the road. At the exit of Grimaldo, is the church of the Immaculate Conception, from the s. XVI, and a castle in the private hands of the s. XIII, of which only the homage tower remains.
In about one kilometer, and after crossing the highway through a tunnel, we are on the signposted route.
We walk among the countryside of holm oaks, meadows, meadows surrounded by mountains in slight descent. At 8 kilometers, the detour for the town of Riolobos is located on the left. This detour was mandatory to take until 2016, due to the litigation with the Larios farm that we will discuss later. Once this dispute has been resolved, it is not necessary, unless you want to spend the night in Riolobos or visit that town, so we go straight ahead. Later, we arrive at the anchover reservoir on the Alagón River, belonging to the Tagus basin. We wade the river between the stones (which may represent some difficulty if you don't have much balance or the river is growing) and go out on the CC-29.3 road. We walk a stretch along its margin until we take a lane to the left. In a change of levels, we have already seen, in the distance, Galisteo, where we will have to go. Shortly after, we arrived at the Larios farm. The passage through this farm was closed for several years, which forced pilgrims to detour through Riolobos to avoid this section. In 2016, the Junta de Extremadura enabled a road parallel to the farm, making the passage possible again.
After crossing the Arroyo de las Monjas, there is the possibility of continuing straight to Carcaboso passing through San Gil. It's a kilometer shorter journey, but you'll miss the visit to the town of Galisteo, which is wonderful.
Galisteo is located at the top of a hill, completely walled by an Almohad wall of the s. XIII. It is advisable to enter the walled enclosure through the door of Santa María because, in addition to being the most monumental, it has on its other side the Mudejar apse of the church of Our Lady of the Assumption. Inside the enclosure, it is also worth approaching to contemplate the castle's tribute tower, which culminates in a pyramidal dome that has earned it the nickname "la Picota". The exit is through the door of the Villa, in Gothic style. The road leads us to the Jerte River, which will be crossed by a bridge of the s. XVI and which is colloquially known as the Roman bridge, despite not being so.
The route from Galisteo to Carcaboso is made by a regional road without a shoulder, although with little traffic. It will pass through the intermediate town of Aldehuela de Jerte before.
In Carcaboso, the road takes us to the parish of Santiago Apóstol, outside of which there are several militiamen. The stage ends in the Plaza de España, although we close the track at the hostel-restaurant "Ciudad de Cáparra" (https://maps.app.goo.gl/WsMms1FWfBaF7sTC6? G_st=ic), our accommodation tonight. They serve lunches and dinners, and they open early for breakfast. Right next door, there is a Covirán.
