Camino de Santiago: Vía de la Plata: etapa 19ª: Fuenterroble de Salvatierra-Morille (with English version)

Salimos de la población desde el mesón “El Pesebre” (https://maps.app.goo.gl/DYxo2DAUoV5hzaXSA?g_st=ic), que abre razonablemente temprano para desayunar. La cercanía a Guijuelo hace que el jamón que te sirven con la tostada sea de gran calidad.
La primera parte de la etapa es en una subida que se va incrementando en su tramo final hasta coronar el pico Dueñas que, a 1170 m.s.n.m., es el punto más alto de toda la Vía de la Plata. En la ascensión, se pasa por zonas que cuentan con paneles indicativos que nos hablan de tramos de la antigua calzada romana que se han conservado hasta nuestros días. También se pasa por varios miliarios y varias cruces de madera. Si se va echando la vista atrás, se contempla cómo vamos dejando atrás algunas de las sierras que componen el Sistema Central: la sierra de Béjar y la sierra de Gredos, en la distancia.
La cumbre del pico Dueña está mancillada por un parque eólico las aspas de cuyos molinos provocan un ruido bastante molesto. Cerca del pico, se ha situado una alta cruz de Santiago y se ha pintado en una piedra una imagen del apóstol. Los riachuelos y arroyos por los que pasamos pertenecen ya a la cuenca del Duero y no a la del Tajo, como hasta ahora.
Se desciende el pico atravesando un tupido robledal que va a parar a la carretera DSA-204. El camino va paralelo a la carretera durante gran parte del resto de la etapa, si bien, si se encuentra muy embarrado o encharcado, es más cómodo ir por el asfalto (teniendo cuidado con el tráfico que es escaso pero pasa a gran velocidad).
Estamos recorriendo el denominado Campo Charro salmantino.
No es infrecuente observar a ambos lados de la carretera ejemplares de milanos reales en vuelos acrobáticos. Esta especie se encuentra catalogada “en peligro de extinción”.
En el kilómetro 27 de la etapa, se encuentra, a la izquierda, el desvío a san Pedro de Rozados. Es el que debe tomarse si se va a pernoctar en dicha población, y así lo indican las flechas amarillas. Nuestro caso es seguir un poco más, hasta Morille, por lo que no necesitamos pasar por san Pedro. Un par de kilómetros más adelante, está el desvío, a la derecha, hacia Morille.
Morille es una población peculiar porque hace gala de tener una especial sensibilidad artística. Así lo atestiguan las esculturas que encontrarás por sus calles y el contar a las afueras con un curioso espacio cultural denominado el cementerio del arte (https://maps.app.goo.gl/csybSWDRrKhXxFsh6?g_st=ic). Los servicios de la población son escasos. No hay tienda de alimentación y, en temporada baja, solo abre el bar Marcos (https://maps.app.goo.gl/qDxx4LqCW2N6xJxe7?g_st=ic). Como lugar de alojamiento, nos quedamos en los apartamentos Walden (https://maps.app.goo.gl/1ZW58jRrsBfTSBnk8?g_st=ic).

We left the town from the inn "El Pesebre" (https://maps.app.goo.gl/DYxo2DAUoV5hzaXSA? G_st=ic), which opens reasonably early for breakfast. The proximity to Guijuelo makes the ham they serve with the toast to be of great quality.

The first part of the stage is in a climb that is increasing in its final section until it crowns the Dueñas peak which, at 1170 m.s.s.l., is the highest point of the entire Vía de la Plata. On the ascent, we pass through areas that have indicative panels that tell us about sections of the old Roman road that have been preserved to this day. It also goes through several milestones and several wooden crosses. If you look back, you can see how we are leaving behind some of the mountains that make up the Central System: the Sierra de Béjar and the Sierra de Gredos, in the distance.

The summit of the Dueña peak is stained by a wind farm, the blades of whose mills cause a rather annoying noise. Near the peak, a high cross of Santiago has been placed and an image of the apostle has been painted on a stone. The streams and streams we pass through already belong to the Douro basin and not to the Tagus basin, as until now.

The peak is descended through a thick oak grove that ends up on the DSA-204 road. The road goes parallel to the road for much of the rest of the stage, although, if it is very muddy or watery, it is more comfortable to go on the asphalt (be careful with the traffic that is scarce but passes at high speed).

We are touring the so-called Campo Charro from Salman.

It is not uncommon to observe on both sides of the road specimens of real miles in acrobatic flights. This species is listed as "in danger of extinction."

At kilometer 27 of the stage, there is, on the left, the detour to San Pedro de Rozados. It is the one that should be taken if you are going to spend the night in that town, and this is indicated by the yellow arrows. Our case is to continue a little further, to Morille, so we don't need to go through San Pedro. A couple of kilometers ahead, there is the detour, on the right, towards Morille.

Morille is a peculiar population because it shows a special artistic sensitivity.
