We start the stage from Casa Salvadora, our place of accommodation in Castilblanco de los Arroyos. Just 100 m away is the Los Pisos bar, which opens early for breakfast. We leave the town on the SE-5405 road, on its narrow shoulder.
At 8 km, we passed in front of a farm that is now silent, but some time ago it was one of the most filmed in all of Spain and rare was the day that it did not have a press of the heart bet on its entrance gate. It is "La Yerbabuena", the residence of Ortega Cano and Rocío Jurado until, after the death of the folkloric, the right-handed decided to sell it in 2013. A J and an R linked in the gate of the entrance gate are the vestiges of that memorable past. I can't stop thinking that not far from here it was where the bullfighter had in 2011 the fateful car accident that cost the life of the driver of the other vehicle and for which Ortega was sentenced to prison for reckless homicide and reckless driving given the speed at which he was driving and that he far exceeded the blood alcohol limit.
A little later, we observe that you can travel on a lane to the right parallel to the road, much safer than the shoulder and, in addition, more enjoyable.
This whole area is punctuated by piruetans, the wild pear that has been disappearing from our fields.
At kilometer 16, we finally leave the route of the road to take a dirt lane on the right. We enter the Berrocal farm, which is part of the "Sierra Morena de Sevilla" Natural Park. This protected area, which is also a Geopark, a biosphere reserve and is part of the Natura 2000 Network, changed its name in March 2023. Previously, it was called "Sierra Norte de Sevilla".
A short distance away is the forest house of the old cortijo de la Morilla.
At kilometer 21, the road passes over a small dam that has created an ideal panto to take a bath if the weather goes. If the flow exceeds the level of the dam, you can wade the course by jumping on some blocks of stone in the right margin.
A little later, we find the recently built Zurita fountain. It has water, it is supposed to be drinkable, and it is conditioned for amphibians.
Arriving at our destination, the tour offers us one last surprise. This is the slope of Calvary, a steep slope that threatens to leave us exhausted after the many kilometers traveled. It reminds us of the one of the Toad, the one that you have to go back to reach Fonsagrada on the Primitive Way.
At the end of the slope, there are two viewpoints, one to the south and the other to the north. Stopting on them to contemplate the fabulous views is just an excuse to regain the swell.
We let ourselves fall down the slope of the north face, with our eyes set on Almadén de la Plata, which is observed at the end of the descent. In the middle of it, there is a cross that offers us a great panorama of the town and its entire surroundings.
We enter the village and the road leads us to the parish of Santa María de Gracia, of the s. XVII, and to the clock tower, from the beginning of the 20th century, where the stage ends. We stop the track later, next to the El Romeral hotel (https://maps.app.goo.gl/iYkdYfC1rRzMVnA86? G_st=ic), our accommodation, accustomed to receiving pilgrims.
Almadén de la Plata betrays his mining past in his own denomination. Let's not forget that "Almadén" means "mine" in ancient Arabic. In the surroundings, short mines from the past can still be observed. The nickname "of the silver" comes from its location next to the Road that we are traveling.
A good place to eat in Almadén de la Plata is the El Molino restaurant: https://maps.app.goo.gl/pv8Pk27ZC155xPPT7? G_st=ic
The area offers a great attraction for hiking routes.
