Camino Forestal – Fuente del Acebuche
This is a pleasant and popular linear walk to the famous fountain of Acebuche, which was built in 1945. The spring waters are used by the surrounding wildlife and the many walkers, cyclists and runners that top up their water bottles.
There is a gradual uphill climb all the way to the fountain and getting there takes about 35 – 40 minutes.
There is 100% shade on the walk and it is also suitable for dogs.
Most of the path is in good condition and this section of the forest wasn’t affected by the recent fire.
You also have the option to go to the Casa Forestal. Follow the fencing and turn right. It is about 50m away and out of sight.
Through the trees you get good views of the Bay of Málaga and the Guadalhorce valley with numerous mountain ranges in the background.
You also have a choice of extra paths to explore in the area if you so wish.
After the walk we took a 10 minute drive to the garden centre Casa de las Flores (on the A7053) for a really nice and relaxing breakfast. Antonio runs the bar, and it is one of my favourite places.
