Camping Les Ochay: Château des Fées and Arboretum de Bertrix

Start your walk at Camping Les Ochay in Mortehan:

(from Château des Fées: follow the red signs BX04 through the forest for +/- km!)

At camping Les Ochay turn left to cross the bridge over the Semois. At the first junction turn left and follow the road for awhile.
On the righthandside of the road you’ll pass a nice picnic/bbq area called “La Coulee Verte”.
Continue another 100 meters on the mainroad and take the first forest path on your left. Follow this path for awhile until you reach a small junction where you have to go right, downhill and walk towards a little picnicshelter. Continue by following the path on the righthandside of the picnictable.
Follow this forestroad until you find yourself at a tarmac road. Cross this road and follow the forestroad again.
Keep following the forestroad until you see a bridge over Ruisseau des Muno. Cross the bridge and go right on the main road.
After +/- 200 meters take the first uphill road on your left towards Château des Fées. Soon you’ll a wooden bridge in your left, take it and go uphill towards the ruins of Château des Fées. Discover the ruins a bit, there’s not much to it…, and go down again towards that wooden bridge you crossed. Leave the bridge on your right and continue on the small path. Leave another picnicshelter on your right and continue straight ahead in the forest.

Stay on this path as you keep going uphill. At times it is quite steep. From now on we will follow the red signs BX04. Look out for them! They will guide you to the Arboretum of Bertrix, a very lovely, enchanting forest. Next to all the trees there are some lovely paths inbetween ferns as well!

After having walked more than a few kilometers through the forest you will find yourself at the “entrance” of the Arboretum. This is the central spot in the forest where you’ll find lots of information about all the trees.
This is also the spot where all walks through the forest pass by.
We continue our walk by following the red signs! We are now walking on tarmac for quite awhile.

After two kilometers on tarmac we will no longer follow the red signs since we have to make our way back towards Camping Les Ochay in Mortehan!
The red sign BX04 will guide you off the tarmac on your righthandside but we continue on the tarmac/gravel road until we find ourselves on a forestroad again. Not much later this forest road splits in two, continue on the left one!!!
Follow this path all the way downhill towards La Semois and finish your walk at Camping Les Ochay.
