Itinerary description
Starting out from the town of Canillas de Aceituno, climb up through the village till (eventually) you find the beginning of the walk which is now signed.
The walk follows an acequia uphill at a very gradual incline.
Towards the end of the initial part of the walk, there are a couple of galvanised walkways & between the 2, the new path descends to the new bridge.
Unfortunately we could not continue out to the end of the El Saltillo walk where the rio meets the acequia.
The path down to the bridge is quite steep & the steps might prove difficult to manage for some folks.
The bridge crossing is spectacular!
On the other side of the gorge, the path
ascends steeply. In a number of places chains are in place to help but, the path is not for the faint hearted.
But for those looking for a challenge, it's a very rewarding walk.
The path continues to climb & eventually comes out on a forestry track.
Follow the signs for Sedella - we took a diversion uphill following the way up to La Maroma.
There is a circular route bringing you back onto the path from Canaillas de Aceituno up / down La Maroma.
As we were running short on time, we decided to walk back down to Sedella via the area recreo & along the main road.
