Itinerary description
We parked outside the tourist information in Plaza Palmeras in Canillas and walked up Los Picachos and the C. Hornillo (ignore the left turn we went the wrong way and ended up at the cemetery) At the end of C. Hornillo it looks like you are walking up somebody’s driveway but take this route upwards and from C.Convento you will start to see signs for La Maroma and El Saltillo. Going up the steps keep an eye out for a dirt track to your right an information board and some direction signs make sure you take the right hand cut off and from then on it is easy to navigate. There is a mixture of cement pathways and metal grates some beside the waterway some just pathways. There is one steeper section but most of it is flat after a couple of miles you reach the metal walkways and you can look down to the suspension bridge. We walked down to the suspension bridge which is worth doing however some people might find it quite rough underfoot and it has large not particularly well finished steps unless you are heading to Sedella you need to come back up them so worth considering. The suspension bridge across The Valley is good and there was no one else on it when we got there. It’s an easy enjoyable walk but good footwear is needed.
