Cantera de los Arenales Circuit
This walk starts from the parking area adjacent to the Arenales quarry in Osunillas in the municipality of Mijas.
This quarry was the first one in Spain to be repopulated with fir trees after the quarry was finished with.
The route heads up to Puerto de la Grajas, where there is a large old pine tree sitting of the middle of the intersection.
From here you take a path on your left (2nd on your left)
It is not a widely used path. You can just make it out in places, there is one section where you have to scramble a steep bit, but it’s not that difficult. Because of this I have left the walk as a medium grading although it’s not a long walk of only 4.2km and under one and a half hours to complete.
Eventually you will get to the Mirador viewing point, although the views are obscured now due to the pine trees getting tall.
Some of the paths are Rocky and Stony but at least half of the route is nice and flat.
There are some nice views on this walk on a clear day, but when I did it, it was a cloudy day.
