Itinerary description

This walk starts from the Mirador on the top road above the village (A387).
I decided to do a small on the main road of the A387, but you can easily go through part of the village to avoid the road.
At the entrance to Mijas near the BP petrol station and roundabout there is a service road that goes up to an old quarry – Cantera del Puerto. Take the service road until you arrive to an area on your left which will be the new water deposit for the village. Right opposite these building works there is a path on your right.
Take this path which is mainly uphill until you reach the pista sur gravel service road.
Turn left here until you reach a signpost on your left where you will descend down the Gertrudis trail (you will find yellow markings).
Keep following this trail which will bring you back down onto the main road, very near the Mirador.
I was lucky enough on this walk to come across four separate sightings of mountain goats (Cabra Montes).
You will also get some amazing panoramic views.
