Itinerary description
Part of the GR 7 walk from Capileira via Bubion, Capilerilla to Pitres then to Mecina Fondales.
The walk was simple down to Bubion. A very pretty town half way between Capileira and Pampaniera. All three towns are located on the west side of the Rio Porquiera. From Bubion at 1325m we climbed steeply west up to the ridge at about 1550m then slowly descended down to Capilerilla through a forestry area. Capilerilla has a funny little astronomy centre. We then head down to Pitres where we had a picnic in the town square under the shade of a White Beech. Pitres was a lively little place with a few good looking bars and restaurants. Pitres seems to be the admin and health centre for the local area as it had a health service and admin offices around the town square it also had a small market.
We then head down a very steep but direct cobblestone paved path through old wheat fields to Mecina Fondales. MF is also a pretty and lively little town.
