Itinerary description

A tough climb up from the road to the refugio gives your heart and legs a good workout. The circuit around the valley is on an easy gravel track under the escarpment of the Sierra Crestellina then a concrete road back to Casares.
I recommend the walk in this direction because the descent from the Refugio to the road can be too difficult for anyone a bit timid or with vertigo. Ascending the steep rocky trail is easier for my wife and I than descending.

Well marked path from the main road. Except we missed it and walked 40 minutes more than we needed to :-(

The trail gets tougher around here. Some steep climbs where your good walking boots repay their price

There are many chances to reflect on the beauty of the Sierra Crestellina and how you was walking up there just an hour ago

Back to the car park. Straight ahead to restaurant Sarmiento, expensive but great quality and you deserve it. Or down into the town where the prices are lower and the food is still good
