This route follows in part route number 3 of the proposals from the tourist office of Flam and runs to the Brekkefossen Waterfall.
Flam is a typical valley of the western part of Norway formed by the action of glaciers over millions of years. In the is the tourist center of the fjord of Naeroy this route is easy to realize because it does not take more than hours.
We start from the tourist office and information center, next to the railway station. We crossed the bridge over the river and headed down a track, through the bus parking lot and past the viaduct of the A-16 road. We always leave the river on our left and the YouthHostel campsite on the right. We continue our way around meadows and we find the diversion of access to the Cascade that is well marked by "T" marks in red that indicate the way. These marks are the usual ones in Norway's hiking trails.
The climb is short in length, but do not be fooled by the distance. The slope makes it harder and longer than expected, although the road is in good condition and with some sections of stone stairs.
When you reach the waterfall you can see, at least at the time we visited, the great load of water that falls from the top of the mountain. The views, both the waterfall and the fjord are spectacular, as you can see in the photographs.
After a while of contemplation of nature, we begin our descent by the same path of ascent. When we get back to the track, we can follow route no. 3 or return by the path of the start. We follow the first option and continue with the route until we reach a bridge that crosses the river and returns again to the urban core through a charming urbanization and parallel to the train tracks.
When we were arriving in Flam we decided to take route number 1 that runs through a small open cultural park. We walked these small trails through the park and discovered other views of Flam and the fjord.
We closed the circular route down the side of the hotel and back to the railway station.
It is a simple route, but you have to take into account the short stretch of strong rise to the waterfall.

Gracias.
