Itinerary description
Es un sendero de unos 8.9 kilómetros de media dificultad. El sendero comienza y termina por la rotunda con reloj en Vélez Rubio – junto el restaurante Zurich.
Desde la rotonda tomáis la calle de nuestro Padre Jesús que está situada haciendo esquina con ‘Cortinas Carmen’.
La primera parte del sendero sigue por la rambla.
El sendero hasta la cima del Castellón es muy inclinado pero vale la pena por las vistas imponentes. Hay ruinas de un antiguo castillo Árabe en la cima.
El viaje de vuelta es a través de una pista desigual muy empinada por lo que hay que tener cuidado al descender hacia la rambla
Cuando regreséis a Vélez Rubio podéis dar un paseo por el pueblo, visitando el Museo, La Iglesia de la Encarnación y el Convento.
A walk of low to medium difficulty starting and ending at the ‘clock’ roundabout in Velez Rubio. Total distance is 8.9 kilometres.
From the roundabout take calle de nuestro Padre Jesus. On one corner is a tobacconist and on the other ‘Cortinas Carmen’.
The first part of the walk is along the rambla.
The path to the summit of Castellón is steep but well worth the climb for the stunning views from the summit. There are the ruins of an old Arabic fortress at the top.
The return journey is via a very steep uneven track so care must be taken as you descend back to the rambla.
When you get back to Velez Rubio you can take a stroll through this historic village and it[s well worth visiting the Museum, Church of the Incarnation and Convent.
