Castillo de la Estrella - Tajo del Molino - Cueva de la Paloma (Teba, Málaga)
This walk starts on the outskirts of Teba village, 10 minute drive past Ardales.
Heading towards Campillos take the MA 5404 road and turn right following the signs to Teba. It is signposted going left, but this is a longer way round into Teba.
First I went to look at the Castillo de la Estrella (Teba Castle), which is the largest castle in malaga, built in the 13th century.
From the castle head back down and take the path on your right. You will see a building with 3 flags which is a mill (Molino Lucero), here take the path to the left which will bring you to entrance of Teba gorge (Tajo del Molino).
When you cross over the river Rio de la Venta, go around the water station Toma del Agua and follow the rough path that will take you to the cave Cueva de las Palomas.
There is some scaffolding and steps that will take you down to the entrance of the cave which is padlocked.
Make your way back to the gorge and go through it. There are some faint paths but you will have to work out the best way to climb over the rocks and boulders and avoid the river. I didn't find it a problem. At the other side of the gorge I found a spot to have a break. It was nice to hear and see a lot of birds in the area.
You walk along the river for about 1Km before you start an uphill climb that picks up on the GR 249.5 (Teba to Campillos route).
Keep on this path passing a field on your left and rocky hills on your right.
Teba castle will be in front of you.
The final section will be a the main road.
Very pleasant walk, with a bit of a challenge at the gorge, but nothing to worry about.
