Itinerary description

The walk starts in the centre of Cazorla. You pass the abandoned monastery of Monte Síon. An ideal spot for the picnic are the cliffs at El Chorro where you can watch the flight of griffon vultures at close range. Near the viewpoint "Mirador Riogazas", there is a picknick area with a spring. Soon after this point, you will pass another spring with water gushing over the dirt road you are following. The road turns to the left and you'll see a building and a water channel. The conventional route is the continuation of the dirt road. As we like water channels (cf. the levadas on Madeira), we decided to follow the partly covered water channel. You'll arrive at the fairly new walk along the Rio Cerezuelo which you follow downstream to Cazorla, crossing the river several times with steep wooden bridges. In Cazorla, the river is covered and can be visited : see http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Attraction_Review-g315914-d4105346-Reviews-Boveda_del_Rio_Cerezuelo-Cazorla_Province_of_Jaen_Andalucia.html .

Hello, I understand Dutch, English, French and German, but unfortunately only a few words Spanish. As far as I understand your question, you ask the difficulty level in case of crossing the river (Rio Cerezuelo) without a bridge ? We walked there by late May and there was a moderate level of water in the river. I expect less water in the summer and more in rainy periods of the autumn, winter and spring. Especially when the snow is melting, there must be a lot of water. The bridges are particulary high & steep. I wondered whether they were constructed this way to discourage mountain bikers or to be also above the water level in case of high water levels (or even floods). I didn't count the wooden ridges, but I guess there are 4 of them. Just for the fun, I crossed once without using the bridge, but by jumping from stone to stone. This was not too difficult, but be careful as the stones are slippery. It did not look that easy at all crossings and in case of more water, I really advise to use the nice bridges.
