Itinerary description
26 10 2020
The route starts from the top end of the village of Cerralba where you take the acequia tracks along the ridge of the Guadalhorce valley. This affords great views over the valley on one side and the Sierra de las Nieves on the other as well as the Sierra de Mijas ahead of us.
The course then drops down into the valley of the Rio Grande and you pass through the Goat farm with is young kids and then to the river banks.
A good spot for a break is on the bridge.
After the break you have a one and a half kilometre steady climb. The track then levels out and we have now splendid views ahead to the mountains around El Chorro and Sierra Las Aguas. You then leave this track - Carril de las Loma and head back to the village.
Directions:
Take the A357 direction Campillos and pass the turning to Pizzarra, just past the 43 km marker take left turn to Cerralba, straight over at the roundabout and then you will find plenty of parking on either side of the road. There is a cafeteria at the BP petrol station and there are one or two bars in the village.

Scenery
Moderate
It was a great walk, after days of heights and ( for me) steep climbs I enjoyed this pretty “flat) environment. Indeed very nice views in an agricultural environment.
The rio grande was not so grande this time but maybe better in another season. Bring your water and food, there is nothing to buy once you are on the road.
