Itinerary description
This is a very beautiful walk indeed!
Probably a classic walk for everybody who lives in these surroundings or who enjoy their holidays here as we do.
This is a walk you should not miss. The walk is relatively short but there is so much to be seen and to enjoy that it can easily take up your whole day
We parked our car alongside the road in Betis as the small car park at the end of the village was already full and we started our walk by going south, first along the road with beautiful views on the beach towards Tarifa and the Punta de Tarifa and the coast of Morocco.
We followed the road for slightly more that two kilometres and then turned right on a wide track that leads you to Betijuelo. From there the track leads you into the pine trees and you will soon come upon the first viewpoint that you can climb to enjoy spectacular views. There is an informationboard that shows you everything that you can see.
From this viewpoint the track turns to the right and becomes very narrow and overgrown. and sometimes you will have to find your way across or around big boulders. Eventually you will reach a height of 430 metres from where there is a very narrow track, almost invisible because of the man-high rhododendron bushes, that leads you to an old bunker which gives you another splendid view.
Back on the track you follow it up and down, passing some beautiful rock formations, until you reach the plateau. To the left there is a fence that you should also go through as it gives additional spectacular views of this side of the mountain and the lower countryside and beach.
From the plateau you have a very extensive view on Bolonia and its Dune and on the Sierra de la Plata, a ridge that is also worthwhile doing.
The way down from the plateau is extraordinarily beautiful. The rock formations are unbelievable. It is a relatively short descent but you will take your time to admire everything there is to be seen.

I followed this route in January. Amazing views to the Atlantic ocean and Tarifa.
Yes indeed, we were impressed by the sea views when we did this walk.
