Cerro del Camorro, Entrerrios, Sierra del Alpugata

Hice esta ruta con el grupo organizado por Turismo de Mijas, con los guías de Descubre, Jose Manuel, Carmen y Anna. Empezamos la ruta en La Fuente de la Teja, donde hay algo de parking para los coches. La mayor parte de la ruta consiste de camino ancho de montaña, que no presenta ningún problema. Desde la baliza "bifurcación" a "Cima de Camorro" es un sendero rocoso donde hay que andar con cuidado (como siempre en la montaña). En esta ruta sí se puede decir que las vistas desde todo el camino son espectaculares, Gibraltar,Monte Hacho de Ceuta, todos los picos de Cadiz, Grazalema, Alpujata, y al otro lado Monte Huma, El Torcal, la Sierra de Mijas, y Fuengirola. Lo que más me ha impresionado es el color de la tierra y las rocas. Nuestro guía José Manuel nos explicó que estas rocas, formadas en el periodo Paleozoico al solidificar el magma en las profundas capas de la Tierra o debajo del mar, están ricos en los óxidos de hierro y magnesio que da el color marón rojizo a todo el entorno. Los colores son verdaderamente impresionantes, y cambian drásticamente con el sol o la sombra y cuando seco o mojado. Y crea un contraste vívido con el verde de los arboles solitarios o los bosques pequeños. También, hay un inquietante contraste entre el entorno y el negro de los pinos y arboles quemados en incendios forestales recientes. Nos hemos disfrutado mucho de esta ruta, que no es técnicamente difícil. Hay muchos senderos para elegir, que deja al senderista hacer más o menos kilómetros. Ahora, me han contado algunos senderistas, que no es un sendero para los días lluviosos. Aparentemente se encharca y en partes se convierte en una pista de barro.

I did this route with the Tourism Mijas group, lead by the guides from Descubre, Jose Manuel, Carmen and Anna. We started the hike at the "La Teja" fountain, where there is parking for some cars, not many. The greater part of the route consists of a wide mountain road, which is very easy and comfortable to walk. From the waypoint "bifurcación" to "Cima de Camorro" (the highest point) it consists of a narrow rocky path where care must be taken (as in all mountain pathways). This is a route which, without doubt, you can say has spectacular views along all the walk, Gibraltar, Hacho Mountain in Ceuta, all the peaks of Cadiz, Grazalema, and Alpujata, and on the other side Huma Mountain, El Torcal, Mijas Mountains, and Fuengirola, not to mention the Mediterranean and North Africa. What for me is most impressive is the colour of the land and rock formations. Our guide José Manuel explained that these rocks, formed in the Palaeozoic Era (250+ million years ago) when the molten rock solidified deep under the land or sea, are rich in iron and magnesium oxides which give the red brown colour to the land and rocks. The colours are really spectacular, changing drastically in sunlight or shade, and when wet or dry. And it creates a vivid contrast with the green of the lone pines and trees scattered in the area or where grouped in small woods. There is also an eerie contrast between the surrounding area and the black of the pines and other trees burned in recent forest fires. We really enjoyed this hike, which is not technically difficult. There are many routes to select, which allows the hikers to do more or less distance. I should say, some hikers have told me that this is not a route for wet days. Apparently it can become waterlogged and in some parts the mud can make it like a skating rink.
