Itinerary description
From Rosario go to Mirador del Alto de Hondonero where you can park your car. The path is not waymarked. Sometimes there are stone heaps as a guidance but very often you have to walk on sight.
From the parking the path goes slowly up for the first few hundred meters after which it gets steep and full of stones. The last part before you arrive at the ridge is extremely steep and needs hands and feet to climb up. Above there is no path just very rugged stone, might be dangerous if you are not used to that. Lots of rubble on the way down and very slippery. Walkers need good shoes and mountain walking experience.
Very beautiful sights to the north (flat lands north of Antequera but also the mountain ridges strewn around the landscape) and the south once you are up on the ridge (Axarquia, Lake Vinuela and the Mediterranean in the background.)
Lots of chamois curiously looking at visitors. Eagles in the air. And beautiful plants (wild peonies, Helleboris Foetidus, Ballota acetabulosa, flowering thistles and wild roses)
Make sure the weather is stable as in bad weather this walk could be dangerous.
