Itinerary description
This loop starts from the Fleming road entrance to the environmental hut part of the Chapel Woods Forest area Mt Coot-tha. It is a relatively hillly loop along both firetrail and narrow track.
The track starts following the Honeyeater track up to the Chapel Hill Reservoir. From there it follows the Kamala trail across the bottom of the mountain to the Scorpion trail. The trail then follows Scorpion trail up to Gold mine car park.
Scorpion is one of the steeper climbs up the mountain. The track then takes the ghost hole track and the upper part of it across to just before Powerfull Owl track before diverting into a group of narrow trails that eventually climb up to the Litchfield track.
There are a lot of narrow trails leading off in different directions so you need to be very careful in this section to pick the right tracks. At the Litchfield track things get easier and you follow this across the top of the mountain before joining up with the ring road just above the lookout.
From here you enter the Chapel Hill Rd trail and follow it down the mountain. At the bottom you enter the Chapel Hill Traverse Trail to the Rose Robyn Trail. The conclusion follows the Butterfly trail back to the car park at Fleming road.
A pretty physical hike given it's shorter distance and henc this hike is best done by people who like steep hills.

Loved the smaller, less travelled trails. Good heart pumper to start!
