Itinerary description
Waypoints
Terminus of the Volksport Approach coming out of the woods just above the water tower.
Please avoid the steep and slide-y erosion trails. Use the pleasant forest switchbacks.
Waterfall overlook
A short side trail takes you to a clearing overlooking a distant , but impressive waterfall in the Youbou Creek valley. (Running only in the wetter seasons).
Intersection
Again, please avoid the gravelly steep erosion chute and use the pleasant forest switchback to the right.
Typical views from Cristopher Rock
You are mid lake. To the left you can see the South Arm. Below are Youbou and the old mill site. To the right. you can see Heather Mountain behind the northern end of the lake. This is the current terminus of the Christopher Rock Trail.
Start of route to Erik’s Bluff
Not currently part of the authorized Christopher Rock Trail, this would be a worthy addition. It offers another panoramic view of the lake.
Intersection
Turn back toward new trailhead at upper parking lot of Youbou Community Hall
Return along forest lane.
Forest lane paralleling Youbou road provides a nice walk back to your parking lot
