Itinerary description

Christopher Rock is a short but steep hike up a forest Trail that ends on a beautiful Rocky outcrop with one of the best views of Cowichan Lake. It is being upgraded and maintained by the Cowichan Trailblazers society under the generosity of Mosaic Forest Management. Well worth the effort, the principal difficulty of the trail are some steep gravel chutes that are being mitigated through bypasses and other trail improvements. This Wikiloc also shows connecting trails including a continuation route to Erik’s Bluff, an overlook of a distant wet season waterfall in the Youbou Creek drainage, and lovely lead-up approaches to the start. In selecting shoes for this hike choose a pair that provides good traction.

A short side trail takes you to a clearing overlooking a distant , but impressive waterfall in the Youbou Creek valley. (Running only in the wetter seasons).

You are mid lake. To the left you can see the South Arm. Below are Youbou and the old mill site. To the right. you can see Heather Mountain behind the northern end of the lake. This is the current terminus of the Christopher Rock Trail.
