Itinerary description
The Strážov Mountains (Strážovské vrchy) are a mountain range in northwestern Slovakia, being part of Inner Western Carpathians. Our four-day hike took us across the whole range starting at Fačkov mountain pass (the southernmost tip of Malá Fatra) and finishing at the northern boundary of the White Carpathians.
During the second day of our hike we climbed a pretty steep trail for Strážov (at 1.213 m above sea level the highest mountain in the Strážov Mountains), chilled a little bit at a run-down pub in Zliechov and purchased a marvelous home-made smoked sheep cheese (korbáčiky) at local dairy farm. Beyond Zliechov the trail runs across rolling meadows and hills just to start climbing a little bit in the vicinity of the second most prominent peaks of the Strážov Mountains, Vápeč. We slept at the camping place at Srvátková lúka which has pretty everything except for a source of potable water.
