Itinerary description
This walk starts in Betren, just past Vielha on the C28.
After the first 300 metres you will see a signposted track to Escunhau that you could also take for this walk bu we took the wide gravel track that leads you gradually upwards and gives you nice views on the way of Vielha and its surrounding mountains.
The track gives you shade as well as views on the other side of the valley in the direction of Escunhau and Casarilh. At the outskirts of Casarilh we crossed the C28 and followed a trach to the river. After crossing the bridge we went to the right following the red-white marks for a while on a small track .
After more or less 700 metres, at about 1100 metres high we took a very sharp left and followed an even smaller track back in the direction of Vielha, This is a beautiful part of the walk as you walk close to the river and in open country so that you can see everything.
For a while the path remains more or less at the same height but after more or less 1.5 kilometres it starts to gradually go down and when, in a bend of the river, you reach another track that crosses the river, the walk remains level nd you walk through beautiful fields alongside the river Garona.
Reaching a medieval bridge, we crossed the river and while you could take the little streets straight up to the beginning of the river we took our time to follow the riverpath.
