Itinerary description
This is a very beautiful and easy walk which starts at the big parking place at the entrance of Leucate.
Next to the tourist information office there is a signpost for a number of lovely walks from which we have taken parts for our own walk.
There are so many paths on this cape that you could also easlily make your own walk, but the signposted walks with their yellow markings take you of course to the most beautiful spots.
The variety of scenery on this walk is amazing; it's wonderful to walk through the many vineyards, the amount of which almost equals the amount of paths and stone walls.
From the little village of La Franqui the walk becomes significantly different. The views are breathtaking here by the way, not only of that village and the sandy beaches but also to the hills to the west and north and the Mediterranean sea of course.
As you walk from here on at a height of about 45 metres all the way to the lighthouse of Cap Leucate the walk is very relaxing and entertaining.
Cap des Freres, or Cap de Berger as it is signposted here, about in the middle between La Franqui and the lighthouse, is especially worth mentioning and visiting.
The part from the lighthouse back to the village of Leucate gives you once again a completely different scenery as well as beautiful views on the Etang de Salses and the Pyrenees Orientales to the south.
