Itinerary description

We started this walk near the Playa Negra in Puerto de Mazarrón. The first part of the walk follows the Gr 92 (Sendero del Mirador de la Punta Mar Mediterraneo) but when this route started to follow the road (E22) we stayed on the rocks and made our way across the rocks, which at two points involves steep descents of a couple of metres. If you don't want to do that you'd better stay on the road.

Arriving at Isla Plana there is an excellent place to drink and eat something with a great view on the small island right in front of the village. We went up to the Ermita de Nuestra Signora Del Carmen behind which there are shaded benches to enjoy the view of the sea and the island.

From there we went slightly inland to the foot of the hills and walked along the back of a (summer) residential area after which we descended towards a desalination plant. Reaching this we made our way along tracks through the open fields towards our starting point. All the way having great views of the surrounding plains and the sea.
