Itinerary description
From Horto to São Conrado, passing:
- Largo do jequitibá (0.5 km)
- Mirante das Margaridas (1.7 km)
- Ponta das Andorinhas (6.8 km)
- Mirante da Torre (7.0 km)
- Morro do Cochrane (8.1 km)
Definitely cannot recommend continuing the crossing past Morro do Cochrane. Trail is barely visible, you will basically just cut straight through the forest and past some shady ruins to a closed (but, when I did this, not locked) gate on the opposite side of the Pedra Bonita park gate.
Also no view from Cochrane when I was there because the forest was so dense. Mirante da Torre tho has a great view if you are willing to climb a little.

How long was the hike through the forest from the Morro do Cochrane out to Estrada da Canoa? Was it easy enough to follow the trail?
Hey Henry! See description—I would not recommend that part. I definitely lost the path a lot and even when I was on the path for certain, it was pretty bad. I don’t have a timing, but it was the slowest part of the trail due to the bad conditions.
