Itinerary description
Start at the roadside parking on the Col du Mercou.
Follow the GR 61, turn south along the road and turn right. After a short while the trail will start to climb.
At the Col de Cabane Vieille we continue straight ahead on a rather steep and rocky climb, that eventually levels off and goes slightly downhill until it reaches a forest road.
At the Col de Cabane Vieille keep right and go downhill.
Eventually you reach a partly asphalt road, turn left and follow it.
Turn left, uphill when reaching a the blue sign S Mauripe.
But we couldn't follow the trail, so you may just as well continue on the road.
Pass the D 271 that goes to the right.
Go straight ahead into the small village and at the crossing go left, signed Col du Mercou.
The path is more or less signed all the way back to the col.
Hiking time: 3 Hour 20 minutes, or 2 hour 35 minutes without the detour to the forest road.
