Colonia de Sant Jordi:
Sometimes referred to as 'Port de Campos' (named after Campos, which is the main town of the Ses Salines region), Colonia de Sant Jordi in the municipality of Ses Salines was traditionally a small an agricultural and fishing village. The outstanding beaches on its coastline have made tourism thrive here in recent years and Colonia Sant Jordi is now an upbeat coastal resort. The old fishing harbour still remains intact, and adds an element of charm and beauty. Like many of the seaside resorts in Mallorca, there is a bustling atmosphere in the summer here, while it remains peaceful in the winter. The promenade is the life and soul of Colonia de Sant Jordi.
With evidence of settlements from the Bronze Age, Colonia Sant Jordi (also known as San Jorge) was valued by the ancient Romans for salt production. Alongside tourism, harvesting gourmet sea salt is the town's main activity. It also has the only hot springs on the island of Mallorca which can be found at a nearby hotel.
