Itinerary description
This walk goes to the ancient (9/10th century) Mozarabic stronghold/village of Mazmullar.
At present there is not much to be seen on this hilltop apart from many ruins and signs of living.
Probably the greatest treasure is the Aljibe de Mazmullar, the top of which has been covered with a grid, but you can see the first steps of a ladder that descends 4 metres into the ground. You can see what is underneath on this site https://www.andaluciamia.com/en/walk-in-costa-del-sol-in-comares/
After a gate that can easily be sidestepped you will soon reach (with signposts) a naroow track that goes steeply up and goes to the ruins of the village. The views are fantastic from here.
We took our time walking back and forth on top of this hill and saw many more holes that go deep into the ground.
The views from this mountaintop are extensive, the landscapes of the Axarquia andLos Montes de Malaga are constantly around youm as well as the beautifully situated town of Comares.
At the top of the mountain there is a remarkable natural mirador.
This is a short but indeniably pleasant and interesting walk.
