Comares-Mesa de Mazmúllar (with English version)

En la mesa de Mazmúllar, se encuentran los restos de una población habitada al menos desde el siglo IX. Los estudios arqueológicos indican que la población fue parte de los territorios conquistados por Omar Ben Hafsún, cuando se levantó contra el emirato de Córdoba creando el señorío de Bobastro. Tras el alzamiento, Omar Ben Hafsún y sus seguidores se convirtieron al cristianismo, formando parte de la cultura mozárabe dentro de Al-Andalus.
Poco queda de la original poblado de Mazmúllar. Lo más valioso es, sin duda, un aljibe que se ha conservado en bastante buen estado y que dispone de varios arcos de herradura que sustentan las bóvedas. El aljibe, descubierto en 1907, al arrancar una encina, está declarado como Bien de Interés Cultural. Al interior no es posible acceder, ya que está bloqueado por unas rejas. No obstante, hay una escalera metálica instalada que, en caso de quitarse la reja, permitiría el descenso. Además, puede apreciarse en el yacimiento la estructura de algunas casas y los muretes que definirían las viviendas y las calles.

La ruta parte desde el pintoresco pueblo de Comares. A su entrada, se encuentra un amplio aparcamiento en el que se puede dejar el vehículo. Se toma un sendero en bajada paralelo a la carretera MA-3111, que termina en esta. Se sigue la carretera, que apenas cuenta con arcén pero tiene poco tráfico, durante un tramo, hasta que una señal a la derecha junto a unas casas nos indica que tomemos un carril en pronunciada subida. A partir de aquí, existen diversas señales que permiten subir hasta la mesa. Además del atractivo de poder explorar el yacimiento arqueológico, lo que más llama la atención del lugar son las poderosas vistas de todo el entorno.
La bajada de la mesa puede realizarse por la cara opuesta a la subida, siguiendo senderos bien marcados. Una vez descendido, se vuelve a la carretera y puede retornarse al punto de inicio siguiendo esta.
Una vez en el apartamiento, bien merece la pena dedicar un tiempo a visitar Comares disfrutando de sus muchos miradores.

English version: On the table of Mazmúllar, there are the remains of a population inhabited at least since the ninth century. Archaeological studies indicate that the population was part of the territories conquered by Omar Ben Hafsún, when he rose up against the emirate of Córdoba creating the lordship of Bobastro. After the uprising, Omar Ben Hafsún and his followers converted to Christianity, being part of the Mozarabic culture within Al-Andalus.

Little remains of the original town of Mazmúllar. The most valuable thing is, without a doubt, a cistern that has been preserved in quite good condition and that has several horseshoe arches that support the vaults. The cistern, discovered in 1907, when a holm oak was uprooted, is declared an Asset of Cultural Interest. It is not possible to access the interior, since it is blocked by some bars. However, there is a metal ladder installed that, if the fence is removed, would allow the descent. In addition, the structure of some houses and the walls that would define the houses and streets can be seen on the site.

The route departs from the picturesque town of Comares. At its entrance, there is a large parking lot where you can leave the vehicle. You take a downhill path parallel to the MA-3111 road, which ends on this one. We follow the road, which barely has a shoulder but has little traffic, for a stretch, until a sign to the right next to some houses tells us to take a lane in a steep climb. From here, there are several signs that allow you to go up to the table. In addition to the attraction of being able to explore the archaeological site, what most attracts the attention of the place are the powerful views of the entire environment.

The descent of the table can be done on the opposite side of the climb, following well-marked paths. Once descended, you return to the road and you can return to the starting point by following this one.

Once in the apartment, it is well worth spending some time visiting Comares enjoying its many viewpoints.
