Itinerary description
A memorable walk but for all the wrong reasons. We had planned to do this a couple of weeks out, and the heavy rain forecast did not deter us. The torrential downpour we experienced was not itself an issue, but the sheer multitude and ferocity of the leeches were almost unbearable. It was not unusual to find a cluster of ten bloodsucking specimens around your ankles every 20 minutes. Thankfully at Tallowwood Walkers camp there were platforms which somewhat helped avoid the leech onslaught.
Highly recommend doing this walk in dry conditions. Even then the walk would not be all that amazing, with limited view opportunities and a poorly-maintained footpad with lots of fallen trees requiring short bushbashing detours. The trail was adequately sign-posted so navigation aids are not essential.
