Itinerary description
From Venta el Mirador near Casares we take a steep track for about half an hour climbing up the goat track to a Refugio.
Then we follow the contour line round which affords wonderful views down on the white village of Casares. Then turning left along a track we begin the steep ascent up to the summit of Crestellina following cairns. It’s worth spending some time up the top as the 360 degree view is stunning.
Difficult, steep stony track down and then continuing on the contour line we pick up the GR249 and turning left go through the gate into the Monte Duque Estate - Reaching a sign post for Madrid we turn right and continue for about 15 minutes before reaching a gate on the right to take us out of the estate - really need permission for this! and onto a path going round the top of Selima and back to the village and the Venta. A very pretty and pleasant hike.
