This is a challenging walk to the peak of the mountain, la Cruz de Juanar (1.070 m) with fabulous far reaching views on a clear day. Leaving from nearby El Refugio, the walk will ascend on the east side Zig zagging up to the summit which has a cross and a shrine. At the summit there are great views across to Africa and it is also usually possible to see the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

I tried to do this walk but found it pretty tough. The path is not that clear towards the top and it’s really rocky and steep. Unfortunately I actually turned back just before I got to the top without realizing how close I was. Is it easier to go up the other side?
I have done it both ways and the paths seemed to be easy to follow.
It might be easier in reverse. This is a very popular route in Juanar, it's worth it getting to the summit
Thanks, I’ll give it another go sometime.
