Cruz de la MisiÓn Circuit
This walk starts from Puerto Colorado on the A387 where there is an area of off road parking adjacent to the mountain.
Heading up follow the orange signs and markings (for Pico Mijas).
Keep going up for about twenty minutes until you reach the Carril Forestal dirt track,
Turn right onto this and keep going until you come across the blue signs for the route Puerto Malaga turn right here heading down. Eventually you will come to the Cruz de la MisiÓn route on your right.
Next you will arrive at the famous Mijas Hermitage which is a good spot for a break.
From the Hermitage follow this trail (red markings) all the way back to the starting point.
There are some inclines and descents, and as is typical of walks in the Sierra de Mijas it is very stony and rocky in places. A good pair of walking boots and a walking pole would be advantageous. There are some amazing views on this walk. On a good day Gibraltar and Africa can be seen.
You will pass a Lime kiln and a quarry on the last leg of the journey. And also the abandoned Cruz de la Misión shrine.
