Itinerary description
The first day of the Laugavegur is in my opinion the most beautiful. The stretch between Landmannalaugar and Hrafntinnusker is a feast for the eyes and nose. The colorful rhyolite mountains are as always a rewarding backdrop to walk in. The volcanic origin of the area can also be seen with some steam holes and extensive lava fields. This route goes quite uphill, but always on well-maintained paths. Nevertheless, the number of altimeters should not be underestimated in the Icelandic weather. The treacherous weather in particular can be a bummer, especially the cutting wind on the mountain tops. At the end there is a snow field to be crossed, but this shouldn''t pose a problem. A wonderful introduction to the real Iceland.
