Itinerary description
A stunning, very enjoyable hike. Started at the beautiful Església de Sant Joan Baptista in Deià then onto the GR-221 towards Valldemossa. Short side trip to the unique Castell des Morro which requires a short section needing hands to climb to the top. Back on the GR-221 to the Camí de s'Arxiduc through Ses Rotes, passing Es Caragolí (945 meters) then another short side trip to Cova Aigo. Continuing on the Camí de s'Arxiduc past Puig Gros (934 meters) then turning off the GR to summit Puig des Teix (1,064 meters). Down from Teix on the Cami des Cairats route to reconnect back to the GR at Font des Polls then finishing at Valldemossa.
Rated as moderate because the trail is not technical and route finding is relatively straightforward, though good physical fitness is required. Most of the way is on clear, signed paths or well marked with rock cairns. GPS map helpful for the side trips and the first section down from Teix requires a close eye on the rock cairn markers if hiking this route for the first time.
NOTE: my garmin watch recorded the distance as 17km and 1,173m elevation gain - just for reference for planning as the wikiloc recording is not as accurate.
