Itinerary description
Lovely morning walk in Dhour el Choueïr. Besides long mountain trails that are the main destination of experienced hikers, local trails around villages have their own taste. They are more easily accessible, usually family-friendly and can be enjoyed during a short time. In addition, they can give you a closer look to the local culture and the history of the place. I was surprised to find such a beautiful trail in Choueïr, a combination of forest trail and old village walk (better to say stairs climb!). After parking on the main road, i took the stairs next to the church to reach the start of the trail. There are blue signs all the way (maybe too much paint!). The walk is pleasant and family-friendly except for little kids at some parts. The trail goes down to the valley where you can find old wooden bridges (the most beautiful part of the hike). After the forest hike, you will exit at the lower part of the village near " El Sadd" restaurant. From there, you will enjoy climbing the "endless" stairs through the old streets and houses. A beautiful traditional lebanese village. The beauty of the place will make you forget the effort you're putting to climb the stairs! This loop can be extended in many direction especially towards Khenchara. Enjoy!
