Itinerary description
Arce (Donamaria) to waterfall circular.
A beautiful walk southwards into the mountains from Arce, a hamlet of Donamaria. Which climbs to a spectacular waterfall (when not in times of drought). Crossing the river by a bridge above the fall, continue up the valley to traditional meadows, with old bordas and hand-made bracken stacks before crossing over the now tiny stream gulley again and walking back on the eastern flank of the stream to the bridge again, through young beech forests and dappled light. Now back at the bridge cross over and walk along the main track that leads westwards and then, at a fountain and drinking trough heads down hill in a rather circuitous route through dramatic rock and tree formations. The path narrows for an intricate route - watch for the blue signs - and circles westwards before sweeping back eastwards towards Arce. Spectacular views on the way down of the Malerreka valley towards Oiz and Donamaria.
