Itinerary description
This trail demarcated with signs and small yellow hiking boots spray painted on rocks ascends via the Vista and Dutoitskop path reaching Du Toitskop. The trail then descends down the the Manganese route to near the Uitkyk lookout and follows the uitkyk path back to the parking lot. A relatively easy hike with a well defined and very gradual path. There are no sections that have exposure to heights. Although fitness is required it is a relatively easy trail for experienced hikers. The Fynbos on this trail puts on a good show and it is diverse from slope to slope. There are amazing views out to Table Mountain, Caledon wind turbines, Babylon storing mountain in Hemel and Aarde Valley near Hermanus, Paarl, Simonsberg and more. We did not have to pay but an entrance fee will be required once renovations are complete. As this reserve is not part of Cape Nature wildcards will not secure free entry. But they have snapscan, card facilities and cash is accepted. Overall thoroughly enjoyable, scenic and a well maintained and demarkated trail.
