Itinerary description

We had to buy a ticket at the main entrance of the Ein Gedi/Nachal David reserve and then show it at the gate where the black route starts. The place opened at 8 am. I don't know what could you do if you arrive early. We were asked to carry at least 4l of water per person though we ended up drinking only about 3l it was not bad that we had reserves. And it was November when it was only about 25C during the day.

This is a long trip around, and partially insides Nachal David (David stream) that can be only done when there is no danger of flooding.

We followed the trail of another hike but missed some of the steps and had to return part of our path. This was after we followed his instructions and turned south(ish) sooner than we should have. After leaving Mt. Ishay one could stay on the dirt road which is now also marked, go around and reach the entrance to the upper part of Nachal David.

We walked downstream in the dry riverbed, but at one point we reach a 4-5 high waterfall (that was of course dry), but we could not climb down.

Next time we might go on the shorter loop following either the red or the green marking.

We are supposed to climb down there. It was a bit scary but we managed. One could go around on the marked path and get an easier access.

This is where once could smoothly enter the river-bed and the leave it. We cam upstream here and turned left to the south onto the black path. In the picture to the right you see the downstream of Nachal David and to the left is the northbound part of the black path.
