Itinerary description
We hiked a route starting at the big loo in the rough, rocky road from the Nerja Caves (the barrier gate is generally open from Oct to May, but check dates). We drove up past El Pinarillo a couple of KM to park in the big loop in the road before it goes uphill to the closed Venta de Minos. We then started the long section up the Barranco de Cazadores, about 2 hours. High up, there’s an arrow marker indicating the turn up to El Almenderón. That trail steeply makes it’s way narrowly and with many twists and turns to a bit of open space and across under the Tajos de Almenderón and then around the Torre de Almenderón. We had cloudy, foggy weather and continued down the long descent, eventually reaching the rough 4-wheel vehicle road and back to our parking spot! A tough but fantastic route best done in good weather! Happy hiking!
