Itinerary description
This hike starts from calle de El Mirador in El Atazar. From the city of Madrid take tje A1 motorway and follow the local M-133 road with final destination calle El Mirador/ La cuesta in El Atazar village. Follow Senda de Genaro from the village. This track is wide and gains gradual height. There are beautiful views of the water reservoir that supplies drinking water to the city and also surrounding peaks. From the highest point (San Antón 1396m) the descending commences. This is a narrow path witj loose stones. The use of poles can be of assistance although there are no technical difficulties in this hike. Views are magnificent from the top. In a clear day the sky scrappers in the city of Madrid can be identified.
