Itinerary description
The egg-shaped dam called La Presa de Arriba or de Román is a Roman-era dam (1st–2nd century AD) located on the Rambla de la Raja (Jumilla, Region of Murcia, Spain). Its function was to utilize the streams of avenues as irrigation water for the surrounding areas. It is part of the so-called Roman hydraulic complex, which includes the remains of two other downstream dams, a 7 km long aqueduct. The work has undergone a number of repairs and adjustments. The Roman dam was in operation until the middle of the 20th century. There are no technical or physical problems in the route since most of the time you walk along paths or trails that, although forgotten and remote and not frequented, do not give you any difficulties, which is why I would classify it as "easy" for a walker with a minimum of experience and level.
