Itinerary description
This loop track for the 'Caminito del Rey' includes the shuttle bus ride between the beginning and end of the walk. The Caminito itself is a one-way walk from North to South. See the official website for details.
Tickets: are sold in advance at the official website (see link). They include a shuttle bus ride between the beginning and end of the walk. The number of tickets sold per day is limited so plan ahead.
The Shuttle: If you are staying at El Chorro (the end of the trail) you will be taking the trail from the end of the trail to the beginning of the trail (BEFORE) you begin your walk. The shuttle takes about 20 minutes and the walk from the shuttle to the trail starting point takes about 30 minutes, so factor this into your planning.
If you are staying near the north entrance to the trail, or anywhere else, it is best to walk or drive to the parking near the north entrance and take the shuttle back to your starting point after the walk. Public parking is very limited at the south end of the trail.
Trail Access: There are two routes from the shuttle bus drop-off to the trail starting point. The short walk is about 1.5 K. and goes through a short tunnel. The longer walk is about 4 K and goes around the hill that the short walk tunnels through. Once you get to the trail starting point you will need to show your (pre-purchased) tickets, get grouped with anyone else who has a ticket for the same start time and check out your gear (helmet - and if you signed up for a guided walk a headset).
The trail: is one way and a bout 3/4 of it is on a suspended boardwalk attached to the sides of the canyon.
