Itinerary description

This a very demanding walk. We started in the village Isora because we had our accommodation there, but you can also start at the Mirador de Isora or the Mirador de Las Playas (both with toilet facilities) or at sea level at Las Playes so you can relax at the beach after this tough hike that has been described as a leg-breaker. We had previously walked the flat part from Isora to the Mirador de Isora. From there it’s steeply downhill (about 700 m descent in 2 km). Great views of the Las Playas valley, but it’s the same view for a quite a long time. There is a very small cave (more just a hole) along the trail. After a welcome 2 km flat walking at sea level at Las Playas, you will have to climb back those 700 m uphill during 2 km. Again with good views, but all the time the same view during a very tough climb. After that, you’ll still have to climb another 350 m during the next 5 km, but at least that is less steep! Next, it is 2.5 km downhill on an asphalt road back to Isora. This is not a hike that you necessarily have to do for the great views, as you will have those as well from the Miradors that can be reached by car as well. If you’re looking for a challenging physical exercise in combination with some good views, this walk is for you. Due to the lack of diversity and the last part on asphalt, we gave this hike 3 stars out of 5. But we liked it because it was quite a tough one! If you like a challenge but you prefer more variation in a hike, try the one from sea-level to the highest peak of El Hierro (Pozo de la Salud - Sabinosa - Malpaso peak) which I also did. Btw, the Playa Del Pozo beach in the Las Playas area has a black sandy beach with BBQ facilities, a small playground and access to the sea with some iron stairs.
